SOCIAL JUSTICE FOCUS: Women's Rights & Food Sustainability
BRIEF PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The trip will consist of a group of 10-15 teens, along with 2 YMCA trip leaders. Global Teens selected for this program will participate in pre-trip gatherings at the Auburn Valley YMCA engaging in cultural competency learning and preparing for a service-learning experience visiting Nicaragua. Curriculum includes self-reflection, community events, and a service-learning project focused on women's rights & food sustainability. Participants will also learn parts of the Spanish language and culture, and dive deep into social justice conversations about equality and food sustainability.
ACCOMODATIONS: Hostel/Home-stay combination
PRE-TRIP MEETINGS: Monthly beginning in January 2020
